(1) There shall be a Pro Vice-Chancellor who shall be elected by the convocation and appointed by the Council in accordance with the statutes of the University.

(2) The Pro Vice-Chancellor shall

(a) assist the Vice-Chancellor in the performance of the

 functions of the Vice-Chancellor;

(b) act in the absence of the Vice-Chancellor; and

(c) perform other functions assigned to him or her by the Vice-Chancellor or the Council.
