(1) A person who makes a false statement for the purpose of

(a) obtaining the grant or renewal of a licence under this Act to the Licensing Authority or police officer, or to any other person so authorised,

(b) preventing the grant or renewal of any such licence,

(c) procuring the imposition of a condition or limitation in relation to any such licence, or

(d) securing the entry or retention of the name of a person in the register of approved instructors maintained under this Act, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding 250 penalty units or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 12 months or to both.

(2) A person who in supplying information or producing documents for the purposes of this Act of Regulations made under this Act

(a) makes a statement which the person knows to be false in a material particular or

(b) produces, provides, sends or otherwise makes use of a document which the person knows to be false in a material particular or provides, sends or otherwise makes use of a document which is false in a material particular, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding 250 penalty units or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 12 months or to both.
